About us

The Watton Carnival, a cherished event that embodies the essence of community and celebration, is poised to unfold with grandeur on the 14th of July, 2024. Nestled in the heart of Watton at the Sports Centre IP25 6EZ, this year's carnival promises an enchanting theme of 'Book Characters,' inviting attendees to delve into the realms of imagination and bring to life the beloved figures from the pages of literature. As a tradition that has long fostered unity and joy, the carnival stands as a testament to the vibrant spirit of Watton, beckoning residents and visitors alike to partake in a day filled with fun.

The event aims to ensure accessibility and enjoyment for all, with no admission fee, reflecting the organisers' commitment to inclusivity. It is not merely a festivity but a platform that amplifies the voices of local charities, organisations, and businesses, enabling them to gather support and visibility for great causes. The carnival's ethos is rooted in affordability, ensuring that families can indulge in the attractions and entertainment—from the exhilarating rides to the captivating church service and parade—without financial burden.

This year, the carnival is set to surpass its own benchmarks, expanding its horizon with an unprecedented array of participants, attractions, and stalls. The air will be filled with the laughter of children as they navigate the bouncy castle and assault course, while the presence of a pony offers a touch of whimsy and interaction. Family dog show - £ 2.00 entry fee. Artisans and culinary enthusiasts will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and homemade produce, including gluten-free options, in both indoor and outdoor stalls, adding a rich tapestry of crafts and flavours to the event.

In alignment with its storied legacy, the carnival will commence with a unique Special Open-Air Church Service at 11.00am, setting a tone of reverence and community. The Walking Parade, a spectacle of creativity and unity, will embark from Queens Hall Car Park at noon, weaving its way to the Sports Centre as spectators line the streets in support. Participation is open to all who wish to contribute to the vibrant display, please email to confirm your attendance.

Local businesses are presented with a golden opportunity to integrate themselves into the fabric of the carnival through advertising on the official website, social media, and flyers. A sponsorship of £30.00 not only aids in the promotion of their services but also aligns them with the carnival's community-driven vision.

As the carnival approaches, there is a call for contributions to the Tombola, with which the funds raised will aid the events operational costs. Gifts and donations are welcomed with open arms, each one contributing to the sustainability of celebration of life in Watton. This is not just a Carnival it’s our story it is a testament to the shared commitment, a story penned not by a single author, but by every member of the community. Through these collective endeavours, the carnival transcends its role as a mere event, becoming a cherished chapter in the history of Watton's history.
